Crystal shrimp first appeared in Japan. In 1996, Mr. Hisayasu Suzuki from Japan brought back rainbow diamond shrimp originally from Hong Kong. After 6 years of long cultivation and 15 generations of purification, the gene was stabilized, and it became the crystal shrimp we see today. Nowadays, it is also a common ornamental shrimp in tropical and subtropical regions. They are widely bred in aquariums and are highly popular due to their diverse colors and patterns.

水晶虾最早出现是在日本，1996年日本的铃木久康先生把原产于香港的彩虹钻石虾带回日本，经过6年漫长的培育和15代提纯，稳定了基因, 也就成了今天的水晶虾。如今也是热带和亚热带地区常见的观赏虾类。它们被广泛养殖在水族箱中，因其多样的颜色和图案而备受欢迎。
