The Chocolate Gourami has an oval-shaped body, typically measuring about 5 to 7 centimeters in length. Their body coloration is highly distinctive, with a dark brown or chocolate-colored back and a lighter brown or pale yellow belly. There are also some black spots on the fish’s belly and a prominent black stripe running vertically, making them quite eye-catching in the water.

They are typical marsh-dwelling fish, often found in the bottom of water bodies among plants or in muddy swamps. Chocolate Gouramis require clear, slightly acidic to neutral water conditions and ample hiding places and vegetation to search for food.

Chocolate Gouramis are solitary and shy fish that do not establish strong social relationships with other fish.
