The Black Neon Tetra has a unique appearance. They have an elongated body shape, primarily silver in color, and the “black” in their name refers to a black stripe running along their sides, extending from the gill cover to the tail fin. This black stripe contrasts sharply with their bright red tail fin, making them highly attractive. Additionally, their dorsal and anal fins are also black.

They are one of the fish species suitable for beginner fishkeepers because they are not particularly demanding when it comes to water quality. They can tolerate a wide range of water temperatures and pH levels, with the ideal water conditions being a temperature between 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F).

Black Neon Tetras are peaceful, social fish and are best kept in small groups, as this makes them more confident and active. They get along well with other small, peaceful fish species.
