Regarding the origin of the species, Caridina shrimp, commonly known as Crystal Shrimp, were developed from wild bee shrimp native to southern China. Through selective breeding, shrimp keepers enhanced their coloration and patterns, resulting in popular variants such as Crystal Red and Crystal Black. Over time, with the growth of the shrimp-keeping hobby, more refined grades and pattern variations have emerged, making them highly sought after in the aquascaping community.

Caridina shrimp are peaceful and social creatures, typically suitable for cohabitation with other non-aggressive small fish or gentle tank mates. They are bottom-dwelling shrimp that spend most of their time foraging across the substrate and grazing on surfaces. They can be kept in groups and generally coexist harmoniously when kept in stable conditions.

The ideal water temperature for Caridina shrimp is typically in the range of 20 to 24 degrees Celsius. They require soft, slightly acidic water and are more sensitive compared to Neocaridina shrimp. Maintaining stable and clean water parameters is crucial, and regular, careful water changes are recommended. Providing hiding spots such as moss, driftwood, and shrimp shelters helps reduce stress and supports molting.

Caridina shrimp are omnivorous, feeding on biofilm, algae, detritus, and specialized shrimp food. A balanced diet is important to ensure proper growth, coloration, and overall health.
